Book Review: The Wrong Daughter

Rating: 5 stars

The book started as an average mystery thriller novel, but it grew on me and I kept reading for me. At first, my reading pace was slow but halfway through, it was difficult to put down. The author made me want to pin my suspicions on a distinct character but the plot twist comes around when you least expected it. I developed a strong connection with Caitlin; I wanted to believe her so much and felt desperate for her when no one else trusted her. The writing style was easy to read, with appropriate sentence lengths and minimal fancy words, which made the overall experience even more enjoyable. One of the reviews I read thought that the use of metaphors was excessive but I did not realize that at all. While the ending was somewhat satisfying, I couldn’t help but wished for a slightly different ending. I daresay it's the best mystery/thriller novel I've read, but it's not like I've read many—considering I just picked up this genre last year. I would definitely recommend this book to others.
