From Sparklers to Inferno
I woke up to many people on the premises of my house, intruding on my space and privacy. My husband had allowed them to be here without my knowledge or consent. We had a heated argument about it. Somehow, D, A, and S were there too. We went downstairs to chat. We were at the void deck when they decided to sit there and smoke. I chose not to do the same. I did not want to get caught. I stayed on the second level. It was like a huge balcony overlooking the void deck. Some kids were playing with sparklers. And they light up the tips of the long grasses behind D, A, and S. The grasses were about 30cm tall. It was pretty. The sparklers made the void deck look festive.
Suddenly, a fire developed—it spread rapidly and burst into gigantic flames. I couldn’t see my friends anymore. I quickly planned my escape. I needed to exit the balcony, but the fire had reached the second level, almost licking around the exit floor. I focused for 2 seconds, ran towards it, and jumped. I made it across. I looked down and saw fire caught at the bottom of my maxidress. Without thinking, I dropped to the ground and rolled over multiple times. The fire’s gone. And so are my friends. That was wild.
