WeekNotes #3

What I've discovered.
  1. Anja Waleson’s 15 Books You Won’t Regret Reading.

  2. Sandwich ideas in 3D! Lauren Walker created this, and it has won the Tiny Awards for 2023.

  3. Good writing habits shared by Lydia Davis.

  4. This is a great tip for when you need to write something but are unsure how to start.

  5. A guide on creating your personal framework by Anna Havron.

Things at random.
  1. I gave careful thought to the speed and convenience of digital capture versus the intimacy and intentionality of a physical notebook. It was challenging to find a system that allowed me to use both methods effectively. Eventually, I decided to carry a small A6 notebook daily, where I could quickly jot down things and information I wanted to analyze or keep. Additionally, I use the Day One app to type notes when using a notebook isn’t feasible (e.g., in bed in the middle of the night). Then, at the earliest convenient time, I collate all my notes into Notion.

  2. I realized the song Nasha Ye Pyar Ka Nasha from the Bollywood movie Mann, was inspired by L’Italiano. I was immediately reminded as soon as the song started playing on Another Simple Favor.

  3. 1620 books. That's the highest number of books I can read during my remaining years based on Rohit Kumar's post. I referenced the life expectancy for females based on Singapore’s data: 85.6 years (assuming that I can read comfortably until I'm 80).

  4. Books I browsed briefly: Let Me Tell You What I Mean, Genius and Ink, Slouching Towards Bethlehem and Frantumaglia.

Something to reflect.

Capture fragments: Didion’s notes are often disjointed and incomplete. They are fragments distilled from life—whether an overheard conversation in a train station or information conveyed by a doctor. Didion’s notes teach us that our notes need not be orderly and complete. What matters is what we make from those notes.
